Where do we stand?
What has happened to our way of life?
Well, I have been watching the news and, from where I stand, I am appalled at the direction our country seems to be heading. With a more oppressive government pushing stronger and more repressive laws, I have to ask, where do we stand?
How many laws are coming into effect this year that are working to strip away a few more of our rights, either at the federal, state or local level? In California alone, 800 new laws have just come into effect.
Many people are saying we are now living in a totalitarian government, ran by a bunch of elitists that don’t give a damn about us. From what I see, I am beginning to agree with them. We have a slew of career politicians that tell us they are working for our best interests, yet only seem to push for increases in spending, increase of government and telling us they are going to tax the rich (which is wrong) to save the country (which won’t work), yet push for tax increases to the working class (which is you and me).
The average wage earner is going to have to pay out an additional average of almost $2500.00 per year in taxes. For what? To balance the budget? That isn’t possible. The U.S. debt clock shows that we are in way over our heads. We cannot pay back what we already owe if we were all taxed at 50% of our earnings. The unfunded liabilities we will owe, will destroy the economy of the nation, most probably the nation itself.
Our government doesn’t trust the people that put it in power. I’m sure you have heard the reports of multiple federal agencies ordering hollow point ammo to the tune of about one billion rounds. Whether this is the truth or a partial truth isn’t the point. Why does the federal government need that many rounds of ammo? Was it on sale and they figured they could get a bulk discount? Several other sites have already pointed out the obvious: the Geneva convention bans this type of ammo in warfare. This can only be used domestically. What are they gearing up for?
On top of all this, here is an interesting tidbit I just received. Some of the yahoos (headed by Representative Serrano of New York) on the hill have decided two terms isn’t enough for a President. They want to repeal the 22nd amendment. This is the amendment that forces a president to only two terms. This was proposed on January 4th, five days ago. Isn’t two terms enough for any President? Why change this now? What in God’s name is going on?
So, I ask you, What do we do? Were do we stand? Is the great country that was the United States of America that I have loved and served for gone? If so, how do we get it back?
What happens if we can’t get it back?
Thanks for reading my rant. For those that might be offended by what I have said, think about it. Are you upset at me for saying it?

Mike,
With everything so out of control in the government and population growth and immigrants flooding into the country, we cannot even feed everyone let alone support them. I am sorry to tell you that it gets no better than right now. We have to stop being optimistic and get realistic. The economy is not gonna rebound, it is impossible for that to happen now. I am not a doomsdayer, I have just accepted that fact and shifted my focus.
Believe it or not, Derek
I know what you mean. I think we are reaching a point in which there is no turning back. Maybe we already have reached it. Maybe it’s time to bug out to the mountains (at least for a few days).
From one standpoint, we are in the beginning of the end times, if you take the religious route that is. Still, I may have to sit down and read Revelations again.
On the other hand…the very things the Founding Fathers warned us about are coming to pass. Other countries have done what our government is trying to do right now. Look how it turned out for them and we will all see how well it will turn out for us.
Too many people have willingly sacrificed their Liberty for a little temporary security. We all know what Franklin had to say on that topic.
Our nation is coming quick upon a breaking point, and it will either be the government that breaks or we the people.
That is a very sobering thought that goes through my mind every time I turn around.
God help us.
